Is it true that Q95.5 let go all of their jocks Friday and is going to flip to urban ac?

Probably, since Majic 104.9 is not airing the TJMS after New Year's Day.

You think Tony Scott will move over to Majic? It makes sense.. that's more in line with his demo. He's still a good, entertaining talent.

I was thinking the same thing, that would be a smart for Majic to bring Tony Scott back for mornings.

The station is running jockless right now. TJMS will premiere on Friday (12/17).

That does not surprise me that Radio One would underhandedly take TJMS from Majic 104.9 and place it on the 95.5FM. They would actually have the nerve to try to change format of WFUN from Urban to Urban AC "Foxy 95.5, St. Louis' R&B Leader", a typical slogan for a Radio One owned Urban AC. I would not be surprised if WFUN remains jockless besides Tom Joyner for about a year b/c just look at Columbus, Charlotte, and Cleveland.

im from StL and im impressed with the change. Who needs two hiphop stations playing the same songs every hour... i love the new 95.5 and i am desperately tryin to find a website or phone number to get in contact with them. I want to see their "recent songs played" list so i can buy those songs or albums, whats the point in listening to radio if you dont know what you're hearing, i mean they could atleast have a website or shout out the artist and song title after every other song...

There's nothing underhanded about what R1 is doing. It's pretty much out in the open. They're banking on TJMS to carry their stations throughout the day regardless of the market (St. Louis, Philly, Detroit, etc). It's cheaper to buy TJMS; cut deals so that their are ads on the rest of the day and not pay for a full time air staff the rest of the day. They're still jockless except for the TJMS at 107.9 WRNB. Philadelphia's R&B leader. ...I was kind of surprise that R1 hired Monie Love for the morning show on Urban 103.9 The Beat. (I think it's that station's last chance to make any noise in this market)...What's the deal with Ryan Cameron in Atlanta. Was R1 not offering enough? ...I guess they'll syndicate Russ Parr from DC...Anyway I think folks will stick with WDAS-FM in Philly(with Carter & Sanborn in the morning)simply because of the static on 107.9 and it's just simply hard to get folks to change from a station that been around for 50 years...and it appears R1 is just slapping something together and calling it R&B radio...

I just believe that Radio One is one of the main reasons that jobs in radio is so scarce nowadays besides CC. I just wish they would fill their newly-created Urban ACs' lineups like their stations in Indianapolis, Columbus, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Augusta, and Richmond. Other suggestions would include placing a full-power transmitter that is above 3000 to 6000 kW closer to their core audience in their markets it serves. Because it serves their listeners no justice to fight to listen to TJMS over static like the people in Philadelphia are doing. Another thing is their current business plan with their Urban ACs is not working or going to fail to compete against other Urban ACs like in markets like WDAS in Philadelphia, KMJM in St. Louis, or even WMXD in Detroit whenever TJMS contract is up.

Well from what I have heard, none of the new Radio One Urban ACs have yet to have a website. You might as well forget looking up those station's playlists.
But here is a question I would like to ask? Does any of the new Radio One Urban ACs have any local on-air personalities besides Tom Joyner or are they still running automated?

I am sorry that Q95 got rid of the remaining DJS, but they basically fired my favorites, Needles, and StandaMan a while back. Nobody seemed really concerned then. Now, the whole station is gone, and it is too late. I like Tony J's (TRAAAAAAFFFFIIIIICCCCCKKK) energy in the Riverfront Times article where he talks about buying up 7 blocks in East St. Louis and building something independent. I don't know enough about building a radio station to know how likely that is, but if they are looking for late night voices I'll spin for free. On the other hand, I agree that Q95 was redundant. 100.3 the beat is still redundant because they own all of 10 albums I guess, and every summer they trade those ten for ten new ones. Even with two stations, variety was absent--especially after they axed Phat Laces. Moreover, I am glad for Tom Joyner. Granted, he doesn't own Foxy or even the controlling interest, and that really SUX, it is great to see a dj grow so big. I hope more djs become as succesful as Tom Joyner. As far as jockless stations--I love them. I love DJS, too, but I like music more than DJS. It isn't (always) that the DJ's talk too much, it is that there are too many commercials. Either way, something has got to give and for too long it has been the music. I have been through with St. Louis music since Magic 108 ended Way back Wednesday when I was in high school. I am so glad there is a good station for R&B and oldies. Even the new R&B has its own place, and that place can be on 100.3 the beat. I need to hear the Stylistics sometimes, or Natalie Cole Catching Hell. You know, some days, I want to hear about a mighty mighty love. Today is the day! PS. Queen Isis Jones--more power to you.

I thought the new Foxy 95.5 sounded pretty good musically on the tapes I made in Saint Louis on a trip in early January, nothing revolutionary however. I usually prefer the adult r and b to the hip material so to me it is an improvement.

I was still living in St. Louis at the time for MOST of Q-95.5's run. What I wanted to say is that I noticed when Foxy replaced Q, there was a big difference, not in just the music. I visited St. Louis a few weeks back and I was watching television and I saw something that Radio One NEVER did for Q and that is, A TELEVISION COMMERICAL!!!! Why didn't they do that with Q? There weren't even any billboard ads. That is one of the first things that you do when you start up a station is get the word out there. Are they learning their mistakes from Q? But Radio One should have known to do this from the beginning. Also, I think Q failed because it was just too "ghetto fabulous." I would just hear a lot of inappropriate references in music and from a few DJ's at the station. As conservative as St. Louis is, I knew something was going to give sooner or later. Craig Blac had to remember, that he was in St. Louis, NOT Atlanta, Detroit or Los Angeles.

By the way...Radio One has a commercial for the new 107.9 WRNB with Tom Joyner wearing a '70s style pimp costume now running in Philly...I was wondering if they're running the same commercial in St. Louis and other markets for their Urban AC stations..(?)
