quote: The Urban League of the MidPlains, in an effort to create more homeowners in the Wichita area, will launch a new program called CreditSmart.
CreditSmart is a financial literacy program by Freddie Mac and is aimed at preparing people, mostly those in low- and moderate-income brackets, for home ownership, says Brian A. Black, president and CEO of the Urban League.
Many of the people in the targeted group put their money into vehicles rather than real estate, Black says, not always aware that vehicles depreciate and the equity in real estate can help them build wealth.
"This is about money management and being able to create wealth for the family and to pass it on to future generations," he says.
